Flashback - Port Macquaire Ironman 2009
Saturday, February 27, 2010 at 5:17PM With only a few weeks to go until the 2010 Ironman Australia in Port Macquarie, I thought it worthwhile to revisit the event from 12 months ago.
Over 1,400 competitors braved tough conditions throughout the day to bask in some Ironman glory. The week leading up to the event was very wet with downpours and widespread flooding at Port Macquarie and the surrounding areas. The rain was constant throughout race day which kept conditions cool, but also made the bike leg dangerous in sections and made for some obstacle dodging in the swim.
Highlight – witnessing Chrissie Wellington win in convincing fashion (she’s yet to lose an Ironman race) and seeing all 13 BTS athletes finish in the tough conditions
Lowlight – check out my shoes in the images below!
Good luck to everyone competing in Ironman Australia on the 28th of March and Ironman New Zealand in Taupo this weekend!
